Five Fun Facts

Hey guys. So I was trying to think of a fun blog post, and I thought way back to old Sarah Dessen blogs, and how she used to give five facts about herself all the time. They were usually silly things, but I always enjoyed reading them. So tonight, I’m going to borrow her idea and give five fun facts about myself. Things that a lot of you may not know about me. So lets begin, shall we?

  1. I have always wanted to learn how to play an instrument. When I was a kid, my parents bought me a keyboard. I tried learning how to play, but it’s hard when you don’t have someone to actually sit down and teach you. I got a little older and I dreamed of playing the guitar. So I got a guitar, and same thing happened… no teacher. Never learned to play. Now I’m an adult, and I still want to learn how to play an instrument. But now I want to learn to play the violin. It’s such a classy instrument, and it just seems like a lot of fun. So maybe someday I’ll actually buy myself a violin and take some classes. Maybe. We’ll see.
  2. I’m terrified of spiders. I know, that’s not all that unusual. But here’s the thing… I’m also somewhat obsessed with them. Like, I love watching spider videos online. Or reading up on spiders. Or looking at spider pictures. I used to have a spider necklace, and when I was working for a chiropractor a few years back, one of our patients gave me a real spider in amber. I still have it in my jewelry box. I think it’s a star spider. I think. I don’t remember. But it’s super cool. My favorite spiders are black widows, which is why I based all of Hollow on black widows.
  3. I love dogs. Also not that unusual. Most people, I would bet, love dogs. But my favorite breed of dog is a Golden Retriever. I just remember growing up and seeing Golden Retrievers on shows like Full House or movies like Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey or Airbud and being in awe of them. They’re such great family dogs, and they’re so floofy. I want one so bad I can hardly stand it. I’m also a huge fun of Tucker Budzyn (I hope I spelled that right), the Golden Retriever. He’s just so cute! So that’s one of my dreams is to own a Golden Retriever.
  4. Along with writing, I also love art. So much that, at one point, I considered changing majors in college from English Literature to Art. I felt so at peace in my ceramics class, and just… at home. I love to draw, I love scratchboards, and I’m a rock painter. Which basically means I paint rocks, seal them up, and hide them in my area for people to find. I don’t do it as often as I used to, but it’s one of my favorite hobbies. I love to go rock hunting on local hiking trails or at local parks. I try to go almost every weekend.
  5. Rapunzel is my Disney Princess. She’s quirky, and clumsy, and narotic… I am all of those things. Plus, she has big dreams, and refuses to give up on them. When that movie came out, it was like… BAM! I knew right away that SHE was my Disney Princess. Now, I have a theory that everyone has a Disney Princess that they’re most like. My sister-in-law’s princess is Aurora. My niece’s princess is Merida. My other niece’s princes is Anna. But mine is, without a doubt, Rapunzel. And pretty much everyone I know agrees with me.

So there you have it! Five fun facts about me! I hope you enjoyed them. If you’d like to share five fun facts about yourself, please do so in the comments. I’d love to get to know my readers. Also, please stay tuned later this week for my review of Perfectly Oblivious by Robin Daniels. And until then… stay safe out there you guys!
Much love,
~Aly
