My phone alarm just reminded me that it is BLOG DAY! I love the new alarm thing. It’s a great way of getting me to keep up with this blog, and it’s a great way to get my brain working during my summer vacation. I’m still trying to get a summer job, but at the moment I don’t have a working car. So blogging and writing will be my job until I get one that pays money. But when I do get a job, I hope to continue blogging. My alarm is, after all, set to remind me about this for the next five years. Yes, five years. Crazy!
As I’m writing this I’m listening to Avril Lavigne. About a month ago, I was on my way to school when I heard her new song on the radio. Now, I’ve always been a fan of Avril’s. Her first album, Let Go, came out when I was 12, and ever since then I’ve been hooked. Her new song, “Here’s to Never Growing Up,” is fantastic. It’s definitely her style, and I named her as the artist right away. Later that night, I bought the song on my Amazon Cloud Player, and now I listen to it all the time.
I think she might be one of the only artists I still listen to from when I was that age. Yeah, I listen to old songs from that time, but she’s the only one I actually keep up with. Funny how our taste in music changes as we grow up. A few years ago, for instance, I was a huge Taylor Swift fan. I still listen to her old music, but her new music kind of irks me. SHE actually kind of irks me now, and I used to think she was awesome. But there’s something about Avril Lavigne that is still amazing to me. Maybe it’s because, as I grow up, she seems to stay the same. I like that.
Okay, not to interrupt this pleasant conversation, but this is driving me bonkers, and I have to write about it. I live in a house with three stories. There’s the basement, the main floor, and the upstairs floor. It’s a split-level. And I sleep upstairs. We have an attic, but it’s not one of those cool attics that you read about in books or see in movies. Ours is just a small space where we keep NOTHING EVER. No one can even fit in the little door that leads to it above the stairs. So, the attic is right above my room, and for the past few days I’ve been hearing BREATHING up there! No lies! I can hear it right now, as I type this! I’m not scared of it or anything. It’s probably some animal that got stuck up there. But it’s making me crazy! And I brought my mom up here the other day, and it was gone! I just tried to record the sound, and it didn’t pick up on my recorder. I truly am starting to believe that I’m going nuts. Whatever is above my bedroom, hanging out in my attic… PLEASE GO AWAY!
Ahem… so, did anyone watch Masterchef this week? Because that Natalie or Natasha, or whatever her name is, just has to go. I hope Krissi is the one to take her out. I like her. I don’t know what it is, but she seems so quirky and funny. And I love how she cooks home style foods all the time. Watching that show makes me hungry, even when they cook with things that do not sound very appetizing. Like sea urchin. I mean, I would try it. I’ll try most things once. Except spiders. No. Just… just no. But something about sea urchin just looks so… slimey. Is it slimey? Am I spelling that right? Is it a word? SO MANY QUESTIONS!
Oh my gosh… just stop breathing, little creature! Go away! Move out of my attic and enjoy life in the trees, like you were meant to! Sorry, but it won’t stop. It seems to be always sleeping. Maybe it’s a sloth? Do they sleep a lot? I think they do. Aren’t they the laziest animals in the animal kingdom? Maybe I’m totally wrong on this. I don’t know much about animals. My brother does. He’s always been a big animal person. I LIKE animals. I just don’t have posters of them up in my room, and I don’t really watch Animal Planet. But, you know… I like fish. And dogs. Not birds so much though. I don’t hate them, but… yeah. You get the idea.
The creature has finally stopped breathing. Thank you, Mr. Sloth! Now go out and find some dinner, and forget where my house is. Please. Thank you. Oh, speaking of dinner, my mom is trying this new recipe that actually sounds really good. I can’t eat dairy products, so she’s making a pasta with a kind of alfredo-pesto that has no alfredo or pesto. I’ll take a picture of it and post it later. If she makes it. The recipe calls for avocados, and those are hard to come by where I live. So we shall see!
Oh man… Mr. Sloth has started breathing again. I need to get out of this room. Hopefully the next time I write I will be Sloth free. Talk to you guys really soon. I hope this entry was better than the last. Have a nice weekend you guys!
